Will God Keep His Promise to You? | Romans 4:13-17 | UAMEZ Church

Watch this message

People promise a lot and deliver little, so it is fair to wonder whether God's promises will hold up any better. God's promises rest on his grace and are received by faith, not earned by keeping rules. He kept his word to Abraham across generations all the way to Jesus, and he can keep his word to you. In this sermon, Pastor Kaloma Smith of UAMEZ Church in Palo Alto, California preaches on Romans 4:13-17 and shows why you can't earn what God has already promised. Questions this sermon answers Can you trust God's promises? Yes, because they are based on God's goodness and not on your ability. Why don't God's promises come true right away? God makes his promises specific, but he keeps them on his own timeline, the way he did with Abraham. How do God's promises work? They come by grace and are received through faith, just as the promise to Abraham came through faith and not through the law. What did God promise Abraham? He promised Abram land and more descendants than anyone could count. Scripture: Romans 4:13-17 Chapters 0:00 God is a promise keeper 2:25 Why we stopped trusting promises 5:42 What God promised Abraham 9:15 Can you earn God's promises? 12:56 Stop monitoring everyone else 16:22 How God kept his word, from Abram to Jesus Join us Sundays at 10 AM PT, 3549 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA 94306, or live at youtube.com/@uamez Plan your visit: uamez.com Instagram: instagram.com/uamezchurch Facebook: facebook.com/uamezchurch #UAMEZChurch #GodsPromises #Romans4

How to Overcome Guilt and Shame | Romans 5:12-19 | UAMEZ Church

Watch this message

If dealing with guilt and shame means you still hear an old voice telling you that you are what you did, this sermon is for you. Your past does not weigh as much as God's grace. In Romans 5:12-19 Paul says the free gift is not like the trespass, so condemnation, spiritual deadness and man-made rules don't get the last word over your life. In this sermon, Pastor Kaloma Smith of UAMEZ Church in Palo Alto, California preaches on Romans 5:12-19 and shows why what Jesus did is far bigger than the problem Adam started. Questions this sermon answers How do you overcome guilt and shame? Stop giving condemnation, which is based on your mistakes, the same weight as justification, which is based on God's love, because Jesus wiped that condemnation away on the cross. How do you let go of shame from your past? Remember that the first half of your life doesn't have to look like the second half, and don't get stuck on your testimony when God has more for you. Scripture: Romans 5:12-19 Chapters 0:00 A Lent series on the cross 1:26 Romans 5:12-19: it's not the same 4:27 Giving your past too much weight 9:00 Adam and Jesus 12:59 Guilt, condemnation and justification 18:05 Death vs. abundant life 25:04 Rules vs. grace Join us Sundays at 10 AM PT, 3549 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA 94306, or live at youtube.com/@uamez Plan your visit: uamez.com Instagram: instagram.com/uamezchurch Facebook: facebook.com/uamezchurch #UAMEZChurch #GuiltAndShame #Romans5

How to Find Your God-Given Calling | 2 Kings 2:9-14 | UAMEZ Church

Watch this message

You have heard "step into your destiny" a hundred times, and then Monday comes and you still don't know how to find your God-given calling. Pastor Kaloma Smith says slogans won't get you there. Like Elisha, you reimagine yourself, pick up the mantle God has already left in front of you, and use the tools God gave you instead of someone else's. In this sermon, Pastor Kaloma Smith of UAMEZ Church in Palo Alto, California preaches on 2 Kings 2:9-14, where Elijah is taken up and Elisha takes his place, and shows how God used flawed people all through the Bible. Questions this sermon answers How do you find your God-given calling? Write down what holds you back, ask God for the first step instead of the whole map, and pick up the mantle that is already in front of you. How do you find your calling if you don't feel strong enough? God has always used imperfect people, from Abraham to Peter and Paul, and he built you the way you are for this generation. Scripture: 2 Kings 2:9-14 Chapters 0:00 Hope from a high school class 1:12 Is a new year magic? 3:06 Recap: your past 4:13 Recap: your authentic self 5:13 The problem with destiny slogans 17:18 Reimagine yourself and pick up the mantle 32:47 Use the tools God gave you Join us Sundays at 10 AM PT, 3549 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA 94306, or live at youtube.com/@uamez Plan your visit: uamez.com Instagram: instagram.com/uamezchurch Facebook: facebook.com/uamezchurch #UAMEZChurch #Calling #2Kings2

How to Be Yourself as a Christian | 1 Samuel 17:38-47 | UAMEZ Church

Watch this message

Parents, bosses and a whole culture hand you a script, and working out how to be yourself can feel like a fight you lose every day. You live as your authentic self by trusting the way God made you and refusing armor that was built for someone else. David shows how: prepare in quiet seasons, keep the right posture toward the people who doubt you, play the position God designed you for, and act on your purpose now. In this sermon, Pastor Kaloma Smith of UAMEZ Church in Palo Alto, California preaches on 1 Samuel 17:38-47 and shows why David took off Saul's armor and faced Goliath with a sling and five stones. Questions this sermon answers How do you be yourself as a Christian? Trust that God made you in his image in a distinct way, and pay attention to what sparks joy in you, what you are gifted in and what you keep gravitating toward. How do you be yourself around people who doubt you? Don't argue with every critic, tell your own story instead of letting someone else tell it, and keep your attention on what God is doing in your life. How do you be yourself at work? When a boss calls your strength a weakness, correct them politely, the way David told Saul his own story instead of accepting Saul's verdict. How do you be authentic when it costs you something? Prepare in the quiet seasons through prayer and Bible reading, because a moment will come when your money, degrees and position can't get you over. Scripture: 1 Samuel 17:38-47 Chapters 0:00 Where we are in the series 2:01 The reading: David and Saul's armor 5:54 What being authentic costs 9:52 Four things David did 10:20 Prepare in the quiet seasons 15:20 Handling family, bosses and enemies who doubt you 26:42 Your position and your purpose Join us Sundays at 10 AM PT, 3549 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA 94306, or live at youtube.com/@uamez Plan your visit: uamez.com Instagram: instagram.com/uamezchurch Facebook: facebook.com/uamezchurch #UAMEZChurch #BeYourself #1Samuel17

How to Make Peace With Your Past | Matthew 11:28-30 | UAMEZ Church

Watch this message

Your resolutions are fading, and the weight you carry started long before January, so how do you make peace with your past? Pastor Kaloma Smith says your past both formed you and hurt you, and Jesus' invitation in Matthew 11 is how you reconcile with it. Bring the one thing that still weighs on you to Jesus, take his yoke and learn from him, and let him grow an inner peace in you over time. In this sermon, Pastor Kaloma Smith of UAMEZ Church in Palo Alto, California preaches on Matthew 11:28-30 and shows why fighting the symptoms of your past never touches the thing underneath. Questions this sermon answers How do you make peace with your past without pretending it didn't happen? See God's hand in the years behind you, good and painful, without staying trapped in the pain. How do you let go of the past? Pick one thing, start talking to God about just that, and accept that growth is a learning process that takes time. Scripture: Matthew 11:28-30 Chapters 0:00 A new series and the reading 2:08 Why the new year feels big 6:20 Why your relationship with your past is complicated 8:45 Bring your one thing to Jesus 14:45 Growth takes time 20:46 A new way of being: inner peace 24:37 Let your enemy go and hold God closer Join us Sundays at 10 AM PT, 3549 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA 94306, or live at youtube.com/@uamez Plan your visit: uamez.com Instagram: instagram.com/uamezchurch Facebook: facebook.com/uamezchurch #UAMEZChurch #PeaceWithYourPast #Matthew11

When You Feel Unseen This Christmas | Luke 2:8-16 | UAMEZ Church

Watch this message

Christmas can turn into a checklist of work, travel and family, and if you are feeling unseen in the middle of it, the first people told about Jesus' birth were a lot like you. God noticed the shepherds before anyone else in Bethlehem, and he still sees ordinary, tired people. He meets you in isolation and dark seasons, speaks to you in a way you can hear, and keeps his promise that Jesus is Savior, Christ and Lord. In this sermon, Pastor Kaloma Smith of UAMEZ Church in Palo Alto, California preaches on Luke 2:8-16 and shows why God sent the angels to shepherds on a night shift instead of to anyone important. Questions this sermon answers Does God see me when I feel unseen? Yes. God told the shepherds first, people with no reputation and no influence, and he can meet you right where you are. Why did God choose the shepherds? God speaks to people nobody expects him to speak to, and the shepherds show he can speak to people like us. Where does God meet you in a dark season? In places of isolation and seasons of darkness, often at the moment you stop trying to manage everything and lean into prayer. How do you handle family stress at Christmas? Remember that God cares enough to speak to you personally, so no family member, job or opinion gets to define your worth. Scripture: Luke 2:8-16 Chapters 0:00 Beyond expectations 0:34 The reading: shepherds in the field 2:50 Why are the shepherds in the Christmas story? 8:01 God speaks to the overlooked 13:33 God meets you in the dark 18:08 A message made for you 24:42 Savior, Christ and Lord Join us Sundays at 10 AM PT, 3549 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA 94306, or live at youtube.com/@uamez Plan your visit: uamez.com Instagram: instagram.com/uamezchurch Facebook: facebook.com/uamezchurch #UAMEZChurch #Christmas #Luke2

How to Share Your Faith With a Friend | John 10:9-10 | UAMEZ Church

Watch this message

Someone you love is hurting and getting by on whatever numbs the pain, and you wonder how to share your faith without pushing them away. Pastor Kaloma Smith says to treat it the way you would treat a sick friend: meet them where they are and get them to the one who heals. Jesus calls himself the door to a saved and abundant life, and your job is to hold that door open for the person behind you. In this sermon, Pastor Kaloma Smith of UAMEZ Church in Palo Alto, California preaches on John 10:9-10 and shows why faith is worth the same urgency we feel when someone needs urgent care. Questions this sermon answers How do you share your faith with a friend? Notice who around you is struggling, meet them where they are, and point them to Jesus the way you would drive a sick friend to urgent care. How do you share your faith with a non believer? Introduce them to Jesus instead of dragging them to your church, because anyone can enter through that door without having their life together first. Scripture: John 10:9-10 Chapters 0:00 Prayer for victory 0:53 The EMBRACE series and John 10 2:23 The bike ride: what urgent care looks like 5:39 Why share your faith with urgency? 9:23 Jesus is the door: hold it open 16:42 What it means to be saved and at peace 23:58 Abundant life and who needs urgent care Join us Sundays at 10 AM PT, 3549 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA 94306, or live at youtube.com/@uamez Plan your visit: uamez.com Instagram: instagram.com/uamezchurch Facebook: facebook.com/uamezchurch #UAMEZChurch #ShareYourFaith #John10

How to Worship God in Spirit and Truth | John 4:23-24 | UAMEZ Church

Watch this message

Ever stayed away from church because you felt you weren't ready or good enough yet, and wondered how to worship God at all? You worship God in spirit and truth by coming with willingness, and God shows you the truth as you come. Worship is where you find out God is real, and nobody has to have it all together first. In this sermon, Pastor Kaloma Smith of UAMEZ Church in Palo Alto, California preaches on John 4:23-24 and shows how Jesus talked about worship with a Samaritan woman at a well, someone he was not expected to speak to. Questions this sermon answers What is true worship? True worship is worship in spirit and truth, and it is where people experience that God is real. Do you have to be perfect to worship God? No, none of us will ever be ready, and willingness is enough to begin. What does Jesus say about worship in John 4? He tells the woman at the well that the Father is looking for people who will worship him in spirit and truth. What did the woman at the well do after meeting Jesus? She had no training, and she still told her whole town about him. Scripture: John 4:23-24 Chapters 0:00 Opening prayer 0:40 The power of worship 2:56 Why the church isn't connecting 5:21 Integrity, and letting go 7:39 Word, deed and sign 15:21 The woman at the well: worship in spirit and truth 22:47 Worship equips you to share Join us Sundays at 10 AM PT, 3549 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA 94306, or live at youtube.com/@uamez Plan your visit: uamez.com Instagram: instagram.com/uamezchurch Facebook: facebook.com/uamezchurch #UAMEZChurch #Worship #John4

The Power of an Embrace | Acts 9:10-19 | UAMEZ Church

Watch this message

If Christian hypocrisy and judgment pushed you away from church, or you wonder how to treat someone whose words you can't stand, this sermon is for you. Pastor Kaloma Smith says people won't believe the church until our lives match our words. The way forward is to stop judging and embrace people the way Ananias embraced Saul, showing up in person and telling them what God has done. In this sermon, Pastor Kaloma Smith of UAMEZ Church in Palo Alto, California preaches on Acts 9:10-19, where God sends Ananias to the man who had been hunting down believers, and shows why tone decides whether anyone can hear us. Questions this sermon answers Why are Christians so judgmental? Too often we lecture people and perform rules instead of living what we profess, and people see the gap. How do you stop judging people? Remember that you are a sinner saved by grace, then go to people in person and tell them what Jesus has done in your life, the way Ananias called Saul brother. Scripture: Acts 9:10-19 Chapters 0:00 Welcome 0:30 Acts 9: Ananias and Saul 2:10 Push them away or embrace them? 4:48 Why people are done with church 6:25 Integrity: living what we say 10:58 God speaks to anyone he chooses 13:35 Word, deed and sign: stop judging, start embracing Join us Sundays at 10 AM PT, 3549 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA 94306, or live at youtube.com/@uamez Plan your visit: uamez.com Instagram: instagram.com/uamezchurch Facebook: facebook.com/uamezchurch #UAMEZChurch #Embrace #Acts9

How to Pray for Someone Who Is Lost | Acts 17:26-28 | UAMEZ Church

Watch this message

Someone you love wants nothing to do with God, you have run out of hints and invitations, and now you want to know how to pray for someone who is lost. Pastor Kaloma Smith says to keep your arms open and pray for them the way you would talk to a close friend about someone you love. Pray from love, ask God to make you sensitive to their needs, keep at it, and let go of your own script for their life. In this sermon, Pastor Kaloma Smith of UAMEZ Church in Palo Alto, California preaches on Acts 17:26-28, where Paul tells the people of Athens that God is near every one of us, and he shows what it looks like to pray in faith instead of handing God a wish list. Questions this sermon answers How do you pray for someone who is lost? Start by telling God who this person is to you and that you want them to know him, rather than asking God to override their free will. What is intercessory prayer? It is praying on behalf of someone else, and here it means waiting on a person far from God in prayer while trusting God to do the work. Scripture: Acts 17:26-28 Chapters 0:00 The sacrifice Jesus made 1:14 A week of EMBRACE conversations 2:23 Why the old way of sharing faith stopped working 4:10 Open arms and waiting 6:48 What is evangelistic intercessory prayer? 9:11 How to pray for someone who is lost 28:35 Confidence in God's plan Join us Sundays at 10 AM PT, 3549 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA 94306, or live at youtube.com/@uamez Plan your visit: uamez.com Instagram: instagram.com/uamezchurch Facebook: facebook.com/uamezchurch #UAMEZChurch #Prayer #Acts17

How Do You Share Your Faith Clearly? | Acts 8:26-40 | UAMEZ Church

Watch this message

If you have ever wanted to share your faith with a friend and froze, or worried you would sound like a sales pitch, start here. Keep Jesus at the center and tell your own story in your own words, because people can tell when you are reading from a script. Your faith also makes sense to the people around you when your life lines up with your words. In this sermon, Pastor Kaloma Smith of UAMEZ Church in Palo Alto, California preaches on Acts 8:26-40 and shows how Philip met an Ethiopian official right where he was and told him about Jesus. Questions this sermon answers How do you share your faith with a friend? Start with Jesus instead of your denomination or church habits, and tell your friend how Jesus has worked in your own life. How do you share your faith with a non-believer? Meet them where they are, the way Philip began with the passage the official was already reading, and drop the slogans and church clichés. Do you have to wait until you feel ready? No. Following Jesus is a decision you make, and there is no perfect day to make it. How do you share your faith at work? Live with trust and obedience so people see it, and notice the coworker who has power and position and is still missing something, like the official in Acts 8. Scripture: Acts 8:26-40 Chapters 0:00 Worship when life presses in 2:12 EMBRACE so far: doubt and humility 3:15 Acts 8 and the need for clarity 9:11 Keep Jesus at the center 12:42 Tell your own story 16:31 A relationship you choose 23:10 Trust and obedience Join us Sundays at 10 AM PT, 3549 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA 94306, or live at youtube.com/@uamez Plan your visit: uamez.com Instagram: instagram.com/uamezchurch Facebook: facebook.com/uamezchurch #UAMEZChurch #ShareYourFaith #Acts8
