How to Take Your Love Deeper | Ephesians 5:1-2 | UAMEZ Church

Watch this message

Plenty of couples sit on the same couch every night and live on different planets. If you want to strengthen your relationship, start with the person right next to you. The world says spread your love wide, and God says take it deep with the people closest to you. You do that by walking toward them on purpose every day, the way Christ walked toward us and gave himself up for us. In this sermon, Pastor Kaloma Smith of UAMEZ Church in Palo Alto, California preaches on Ephesians 5:1-2 to married couples, partners and single people and gives four steps to a deeper love: study your partner, stay when it's easier to scroll, speak tender words and surrender daily. Questions this sermon answers How do you strengthen your relationship? Walk toward your partner on purpose through small daily deposits, like asking questions you don't already know the answer to. How do you keep a relationship strong? Keep studying the person you love for life, the way 1 Peter 3:7 calls husbands to live with their wives with understanding. What is good relationship advice for couples? Stay when it's easier to scroll: for the first 20 minutes after you reunite each day, put the phone face down somewhere else. How do you strengthen your relationship with Jesus? Receive the love Christ already showed you, because this kind of love comes from him and grows as you reflect it to others. If you're single, every step still applies to the people God has placed closest to you. Scripture: Ephesians 5:1-2, 25-31; 1 Peter 3:7; Matthew 26:40; Ephesians 4:32 Chapters 0:00 Prayer for relationships 0:35 The dream behind the love 3:04 Going deep instead of wide 4:18 What it means to walk in love 10:23 Four steps to strengthen your relationship 21:11 The hardest step: surrender 30:43 Where this love comes from Join us Sundays at 10 AM PT, 3549 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA 94306, or live at youtube.com/@uamez Plan your visit: uamez.com Instagram: instagram.com/uamezchurch Facebook: facebook.com/uamezchurch #UAMEZChurch #RelationshipAdvice #Ephesians5

How to Have Faith in Hard Times | Matthew 7:24-27 | UAMEZ Church

Watch this message

When the job, the market or your health starts to shift, faith in hard times comes down to what you built before the storm showed up. Jesus says the same rain, floods and wind hit every house, and the storm only shows what each life was already built on. Build on him now, one daily choice at a time, and you will still be standing when it hits. In this sermon, Pastor Kaloma Smith of UAMEZ Church in Palo Alto, California preaches on Matthew 7:24-27 and shows why the foolish builder heard the same words as the wise one and still built on sand. Questions this sermon answers How do you have faith in God during hard times? Act on what Jesus says before the storm comes, through daily spiritual habits and people who already know you and will pray with you. Does a storm mean God has forgotten you? No. The storm hit both houses, so it shows your foundation and does not cancel God's love for you. How do you strengthen your faith in hard times? Name your storm honestly to God and to one trusted person, then keep building on Jesus in the small choices you make each day. What is the difference between the wise and foolish builder? Both heard the same sermon, but only the wise one did what it said, which is why James 1:22 calls us to be doers of the word. Scripture: Matthew 7:24-27; James 1:22 Chapters 0:00 Opening prayer 1:14 I'm still standing 1:53 What are you building your life on? 5:59 Everybody gets a storm 10:43 Does the storm mean God forgot you? 17:01 Wise and foolish builders: same sermon 25:11 The rock still holds Join us Sundays at 10 AM PT, 3549 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA 94306, or live at youtube.com/@uamez Plan your visit: uamez.com Instagram: instagram.com/uamezchurch Facebook: facebook.com/uamezchurch #UAMEZChurch #FaithInHardTimes #Matthew7

Free from the Fear of Starting Over | Isaiah 43:18-19 | UAMEZ Church

Watch this message

You know you need to start over in a job, a relationship or your faith, and something keeps pulling you back. You start over in life by taking away the past's authority over your future. In Isaiah 43:18-19 God tells his people to stop living in the former things because he is doing a new thing, and he walks ahead of you and clears the path. In this sermon, Pastor Kaloma Smith of UAMEZ Church in Palo Alto, California preaches on Isaiah 43:18-19 and 2 Corinthians 5:17 and names the fears that keep us stuck. Questions this sermon answers How do you start over in life? Stop letting the past have the final say, and trust that God is already doing a new thing and making a way ahead of you. Why is starting over so hard? Most fresh starts happen quietly with nobody clapping, and many of us feel held hostage by the old. What fears keep people from starting over? Sunk costs at work, worry about what people will think, fear about money, comfort with the familiar and old church hurt. How do you let go of the past as a Christian? Stop performing an autopsy on your failures, because in Christ you are a new creation. Scripture: Isaiah 43:18-19; 2 Corinthians 5:17 Chapters 0:00 Prayer and new beginnings 2:15 Why starting over is so hard 4:52 Fear at work and in relationships 7:43 Will I have enough? 10:43 Comfort and church hurt 12:48 How to let go of the past 23:29 God is doing a new thing Join us Sundays at 10 AM PT, 3549 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA 94306, or live at youtube.com/@uamez Plan your visit: uamez.com Instagram: instagram.com/uamezchurch Facebook: facebook.com/uamezchurch #UAMEZChurch #StartingOver #Isaiah43

How to Face a New Year with Confidence | Hebrews 4:16 | UAMEZ Church

Watch this message

The week after Christmas can feel like limbo, and walking into a new year already tired makes it hard to believe this one will go differently. You can face a new year with confidence because God stays the same even when you don't. Hebrews 4:16 invites tired, imperfect people to come to God's throne of grace, where mercy covers what is behind you and grace gives strength for what is ahead. In this sermon, Pastor Kaloma Smith of UAMEZ Church in Palo Alto, California preaches on Hebrews 4:16 on the last Sunday of 2025 and shows that our confidence rests on God's consistency instead of our own. Questions this sermon answers Why do New Year's resolutions fail, and what should you do instead? Resolutions are fragile, and a tired person needs a place to go more than another plan, so bring your year to God's throne of grace. How do you start the new year with God? Give God the first four weeks of the year, and come to him before an emergency pushes you there. What is the difference between mercy and grace? Mercy is God not giving us what we deserve, and grace is God giving us strength we don't deserve. Where does confidence in God come from? It comes from God's consistency, because his throne doesn't move when politics and circumstances change. Scripture: Hebrews 4:16 Chapters 0:00 A new yes to God 0:50 Coming back to Christ in a balcony 2:24 Limbo week after Christmas 5:24 Tired going into a new year 6:41 Why resolutions fail: you need a place, not a plan 10:57 Confidence in a God who doesn't change 26:00 Give God January Join us Sundays at 10 AM PT, 3549 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA 94306, or live at youtube.com/@uamez Plan your visit: uamez.com Instagram: instagram.com/uamezchurch Facebook: facebook.com/uamezchurch #UAMEZChurch #NewYear #Hebrews4

What Is Grace? Love Before You Clean Up | Romans 5:8 | UAMEZ Church

Watch this message

If you have been cancelled before you were forgiven, or judged before anyone understood you, you may be asking what grace is and whether it is real for you. Romans 5:8 says God showed his love by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners, before any of us cleaned up. Grace reaches you first, makes you right with God, and then keeps changing you for the rest of your life. In this sermon, Pastor Kaloma Smith of UAMEZ Church in Palo Alto, California preaches on Romans 5:8 and walks through the verse phrase by phrase, starting with the words "But God." Questions this sermon answers What is grace in the Bible? It is God's love that moves first and reaches you while you are still a sinner, so you receive it instead of earning it. What is God's grace in the Methodist tradition? Prevenient grace gets to you first, justifying grace makes you right with God, and sanctifying grace changes you from the inside out. Scripture: Romans 5:8 Chapters 0:00 Opening prayer 1:15 Love beyond the pain 4:23 Waiting for the sunrise 7:05 "But God": what Romans 5:8 says 14:02 Prevenient, justifying and sanctifying grace 22:03 Grace for parents, students and workers 29:25 Invitation and prayer Join us Sundays at 10 AM PT, 3549 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA 94306, or live at youtube.com/@uamez Plan your visit: uamez.com Instagram: instagram.com/uamezchurch Facebook: facebook.com/uamezchurch #UAMEZChurch #Grace #Romans5

Watch this message

If you take the laptop on vacation and wake up at 2 a.m. thinking about a spreadsheet, you may already be asking how to deal with burnout at work. A lot of our exhaustion comes from yokes we put on ourselves when work and money become the center of life. Jesus invites the weary to trade those for his yoke, where he carries the heavy end. In this sermon, Pastor Kaloma Smith of UAMEZ Church in Palo Alto, California preaches on Matthew 11:28-30 and names five yokes many of us carry without noticing, from tying our identity to what we produce to putting off obedience until someday. It is part of the Free From series. Questions this sermon answers How do you deal with burnout at work? Stop letting work be your identity, community and purpose, because God does not love you for your output. How do you deal with burnout? Find the yoke you have been carrying and trade it for the one Jesus offers. How do you prevent burnout? Watch for the warning signs, like using busy to numb pain or waking up at night thinking about an email. What does Jesus mean by take my yoke upon you? A yoke paired a young ox with an older one, and Jesus offers to walk beside you and carry the heavy end. How to Build a Successful Marriage | 1 Corinthians 13 | UAMEZ Church

Watch this message

Love gets tested on a regular Tuesday night when everybody is tired, and that is where you learn how to build a successful marriage. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 reads like a list of things to do every day, starting with patience and kindness. Drop the scorecard, honor each other in public and lean on Jesus, who has already loved you this way. In this sermon, Pastor Kaloma Smith of UAMEZ Church in Palo Alto, California preaches on 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 as instructions for real life and not only for wedding days. It is week three of the Two Equals One series. Questions this sermon answers How do you build a successful marriage? Treat love as a choice you make every day, starting with patience, the soil where everything else grows. What is good marriage advice from the Bible? Be patient and kind with each other, and treat your spouse's success as your own success. How do you stop keeping score in marriage? Trade "I told you so" for "How can I help you?" and let forgiveness close the books on old wrongs. How do you fix a marriage that has gone cold? Couples who stop fighting can still drift into polite roommates, so start saying out loud why you love each other. Scripture: 1 Corinthians 13:4-7; Exodus 34:6 Chapters 0:00 Love on a Tuesday night 4:00 Love is patient 11:29 Love is kind 16:39 Love does not envy 20:35 Love does not keep score 23:44 Honor and no record of wrongs 34:36 The love of Jesus Join us Sundays at 10 AM PT, 3549 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA 94306, or live at youtube.com/@uamez Plan your visit: uamez.com Instagram: instagram.com/uamezchurch Facebook: facebook.com/uamezchurch #UAMEZChurch #MarriageAdvice #1Corinthians13

How to Get Out of Debt as a Christian | Proverbs 22:7 | UAMEZ Church

Watch this message

Debt is the notification that makes your stomach turn, and if you want to know how to get out of debt as a Christian, you are not the only one asking. Proverbs 22:7 says the borrower becomes the lender's servant, and excessive debt wears on your mind, your body, your marriage and your calling. Getting out starts with naming it without shame, then making a real plan and sticking with it, because consistency is not perfection. In this sermon, Pastor Kaloma Smith of UAMEZ Church in Palo Alto, California preaches on Proverbs 22:7 and shows how the freedom Christ gives in Galatians 5:1 reaches all the way to your bank account. It is part of the Free From series. Questions this sermon answers How do you get out of debt? Name it honestly, make a plan you can keep and stay consistent even after you slip. Why do people stay trapped in debt? Shame and silence keep it hidden, and many of us were never taught how money works. What does the Bible say about debt? Proverbs 22:7 says the borrower serves the lender, and Romans 13:8 says to owe no one anything except love. How does debt affect your marriage? It hides in separate accounts and silence, and intimacy requires truth, so couples need to look at the numbers together. Scripture: Proverbs 22:7; Romans 13:8; Galatians 5:1 Chapters 0:00 Thank you, volunteers 2:22 The weight nobody talks about 5:23 You are not the only one in debt 8:08 The borrower and the lender 11:17 What debt does to your mind, body, family and calling 19:59 How to get out of debt: consistency and a plan 30:12 Stand firm in freedom Join us Sundays at 10 AM PT, 3549 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA 94306, or live at youtube.com/@uamez Plan your visit: uamez.com Instagram: instagram.com/uamezchurch Facebook: facebook.com/uamezchurch #UAMEZChurch #GetOutOfDebt #Proverbs22

When It Feels Like God Has Forgotten You | Luke 2:8-14 | UAMEZ Church

Watch this message

When it feels like God has forgotten you, the night shift and the unanswered texts can start to feel like proof. God sent the first news of Jesus to shepherds working at night, people nobody was watching. God has not forgotten you either, and your night does not go unnoticed. In this sermon, Pastor Kaloma Smith of UAMEZ Church in Palo Alto, California preaches on Luke 2:8-14 and shows why God skipped the powerful and spoke first to people on the edges. It starts the Christmas stretch of the Essentials of the Faith series. Questions this sermon answers What do you do when it feels like God has forgotten you? Remember that God found the shepherds in the dark, and he sees the night season you are in right now. Does God care about me? Yes. God cares about the person crying in the bathroom at work, the same way he went first to shepherds nobody else noticed. Does God see me? He does. God has a history of skipping the places we think are important and showing up in the places that matter most. Why did the angel call Jesus Savior, Christ and Lord? Each name tells you who meets you in the night, and each one is stronger than the fear you carry. Scripture: Luke 2:8-14 Chapters 0:00 God in unexpected places 1:49 Shepherds at night 6:07 Who the shepherds were 8:15 When it feels like God has forgotten you 18:08 Fear not 21:22 Savior, Christ and Lord 29:58 A name stronger than fear Join us Sundays at 10 AM PT, 3549 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA 94306, or live at youtube.com/@uamez Plan your visit: uamez.com Instagram: instagram.com/uamezchurch Facebook: facebook.com/uamezchurch #UAMEZChurch #GodHasNotForgottenYou #Luke2

How to Find Your People | Ruth 1:16 | UAMEZ Church

Watch this message

If trust has cost you before, in family, in a breakup or at a job that called itself family until the layoffs, you may be wondering how to find your people. Pastor Kaloma Smith says the better question is who you will go deep for. Ruth stayed with Naomi when there was nothing to gain, and that kind of covenant friendship is how real community gets built. In this sermon, posted September 28, 2026 at the close of the Better Together series, Pastor Kaloma Smith of UAMEZ Church in Palo Alto, California preaches on Ruth 1:14-17 and shows the difference between a contract relationship and a covenant one. Questions this sermon answers Why is it so hard to trust people? Many of us learned to guard ourselves after parents, siblings, exes or employers broke promises, and he says that caution makes sense. What is a covenant relationship? It is staying with someone when you get nothing back, the way Ruth stayed with Naomi with no husband, no promise and no guarantee ahead of her. How do I find my people at church? Stop asking only who will show up for you and start asking who you can walk with, pray for and encourage. What can I do this week to be a good friend? He gives four steps from Ruth: find someone to walk with, bring them bread, stay past the first visit and speak up for them. Scripture: Ruth 1:14-17 Chapters 0:00 Finding your people: the Better Together series 0:56 Scripture reading: Ruth's vow 1:56 Why we live so guarded 7:01 Contract vs covenant relationships 8:24 Naomi, Ruth and Orpah: three widows in grief 17:06 Who are you going deep for? 25:07 Four ways to be someone's Ruth Join us Sundays at 10 AM PT, 3549 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA 94306, or live at youtube.com/@uamez Plan your visit: uamez.com Instagram: instagram.com/uamezchurch Facebook: facebook.com/uamezchurch #UAMEZChurch #FindYourPeople #BookOfRuth

What Real Community Looks Like | Heb 10:24-25 | Rev. Kaloma Smith | UAMEZ Church | Palo Alto, CA

Watch this message

Rev. Kaloma Smith opens Hebrews 10:24-25 to ask a hard question: What does it mean to let people in and to let them see the real you. This is what it actually takes to build real community instead of a performance of one. This message is for the person who has learned to answer the door without ever opening it, keeping everyone at a comfortable, guarded distance. If you've been hurt by family, a relationship, or even a church before, and you're tired of being alone in a room full of people, this one's for you. Why Should I Go to Church? | Romans 12:4-5 | UAMEZ Church

Watch this message

You wave at the same parent at school pickup every week and still don't know their name. If church feels like that too, you may be asking: why should I go to church at all? Pastor Kaloma Smith says church is a body where every member belongs to the others, and it falls short when it acts like an audience. Your gift is needed, nobody outranks you, and people show up for each other in grief and in joy. In this sermon, posted September 7, 2026 in the Better Together series, Pastor Kaloma Smith of UAMEZ Church in Palo Alto, California preaches on Romans 12:4-5 and shows how a church can honor every person instead of ranking them. Questions this sermon answers Why should I go to church if I can watch online? Because Paul says we are members of one another, and you only get that by being known by people over time, in person. Does my small gift really matter at church? Yes. He saw three-year-olds raking leaves on a cleanup day and says that if they add to the body, so can you. What does it mean to honor one another? Honor the quiet people, the volunteers no one sees and the people who are different from you, and give honor before you expect it. How is church different from an audience? An audience goes home after the show, and a church weeps with people after a funeral and celebrates with them at a graduation. Scripture: Romans 12:4-5, Romans 12:10, Romans 12:15 Chapters 0:00 You belong to each other: Romans 12:4-5 1:10 Knowing faces but not names 2:57 Why church is one body and how teams fall apart 5:30 Every gift matters and nobody is on top 10:48 Outdo one another in showing honor 17:53 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep Join us Sundays at 10 AM PT, 3549 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA 94306, or live at youtube.com/@uamez Plan your visit: uamez.com Instagram: instagram.com/uamezchurch Facebook: facebook.com/uamezchurch #UAMEZChurch #ChurchCommunity #Romans12
