Is My Child Safe Here? Check-In, Volunteers, and Screening at Amazing Kids
· 3 min read
Printed pickup tags, two background-checked adults in every room, no adult ever alone with a child, and a text to you if your child needs you. Exactly how it works, so you can check us instead of taking our word for it.

Yes. Here is exactly how, so you can check us instead of taking our word for it.
Every child at Amazing Kids is checked in with a printed tag, every room has at least two background-checked adults, no adult is ever alone with a child, and we text you during the service if your child needs you. Larin and I are parents too. We know what it is to hand a child to someone else on a Sunday morning and then try to worship.
Check-in and pickup
When you arrive, you check your child in at the Amazing Kids counter in the courtyard, beside the main entrance. We use Planning Center Check-Ins. We record your child's name, grade, anything we should know about allergies or health, and the mobile number where you will be. You receive a printed tag.
At pickup, you hand the tag back at the same counter and we match it. Nobody collects a child without the tag. Not a friend, not a grandparent, not anybody. If you lose the tag, we ask to see your ID before we release your child. That rule protects your child from the one situation none of us wants to imagine, and it is not personal.
Who the volunteers are
Every Amazing Kids volunteer is background checked through Planning Center, the same system that checks your child in, and nobody serves with your child until it is complete. No exceptions. Every volunteer wears the blue Amazing Kids badge on a lanyard. If you see the badge, you are talking to someone who has been checked.
Only screened adults go into an Amazing Kids room. That includes parents. We do not make exceptions, because the rule only protects your child if it protects every child. If your child is not ready, or you are not ready, they stay with you in worship, and no one will say anything about it.
Two adults, always
At least two screened adults are in the room at all times. No adult is ever alone with your child.
That includes the restroom. Our volunteers do not take children to the restroom and do not change diapers. If your child needs the restroom during Amazing Kids, we text you and you take them.
If your child needs you
We text the mobile number you gave us at check-in, and you hear from a person, not a screen. We do not wait to see if it passes. You can step out of the sanctuary any time, and the Little House across the courtyard has the service live-streamed if you need to settle a child and still hear the message.
Allergies, snacks, and special needs
We do not serve snacks, and we ask that kids not bring food, games, toys, or devices into Amazing Kids. Still tell us about any allergy at check-in, every time.
If your child has a disability, is autistic, has sensory needs, or simply does better with one familiar adult, email info@uamez.com before Sunday and tell us what helps. We want to be ready when you get here, not figuring it out in the hallway. If your child gets overwhelmed by noise, the Little House is quieter and you can use it for as much of the morning as you need.
If something goes wrong
If a child is hurt, we treat it and tell you immediately. If you ever have a concern about how your child was treated, bring it to Larin Smith, our Amazing Kids director, or directly to me at pastor@uamez.com. You will get a straight answer and a real follow-up.
Why we do it this way
Because you cannot worship if you are worried. The whole point of Amazing Kids is that parents get 90 minutes in the presence of God without doing crowd control, and children get a room where they are loved, challenged, and seen. Neither works without trust, and trust is built on procedure, not good intentions.
Come see for yourself any Sunday. Ask at the counter and someone in a blue badge will walk you through it. Plan your visit.
