Description

If you keep pushing without ever resting, and old hurts still shape how you live, this sermon is about how to let go of the past. In Leviticus 25 God tells Israel to let the fields rest in the year of Jubilee, and he promises to provide at the very point of release. Pastor Smith says release is a moment and healing is a process, and you can give the past to God without being forced back into a painful reconciliation. In this sermon, preached in 2023 as the first message in a Year of Jubilee series, Pastor Kaloma Smith of UAMEZ Church in Palo Alto, California preaches on Leviticus 25:11-12 and 20-22 and shows what we need to release before healing can start. Questions this sermon answers How do you let go of the past as a Christian? Release it to God; you don't have to reconcile with someone who hurt you in order to set it down. Why can't I let go of things that weren't my fault? Some pain comes from things we reaped but never sowed, like a toxic family or a cruel comment, and God can free you from what it says about you. What should I release that I caused myself? Past mistakes, grudges and the need for perfection and control, which end up poisoning you more than the person you resent. Can you heal from church hurt? Yes. Pastor Smith shares that he left church for about ten years after seeing conflict at 18, and he urges people not to let church hurt keep them from God.
