Description

Your resume gets screened by an algorithm, your feed ranks you, and some apps now sell a companion with a soul. So what does the Bible say about AI, and about what you are worth? Pastor Kaloma Smith says you were designed on purpose, in the image of God, and no system gets to compute your worth. You were made to represent God first and to produce second, so AI cannot replace what you carry. In this sermon, preached April 12, 2026 as week one of the Faith in the Age of AI series, Pastor Kaloma Smith of UAMEZ Church in Palo Alto, California preaches on Genesis 1:26-28 and shows what the image of God means for anyone being measured by machines. Questions this sermon answers What does it mean to be made in the image of God? In Genesis 1:26 God pauses and says let us make humankind, the first time he deliberates in the creation story, so you were decided on and not only spoken into being. Can AI decide what a person is worth? No. He says only the Creator sets the worth of a human being, and any system that ranks people by output or zip code is running without Genesis 1:27. Does my job define who I am? No. In Genesis 1:28 God blesses people before he gives them any work, so relationship with God comes before the assignment. How should Christians think about AI?
